The Doctor of Church Management and Administration provides advanced scholarly and professional preparation for individuals seeking to lead, study and strengthen churches, denominations, ministries and Christian institutions at the highest level.

The programme recognises that contemporary Christian organisations operate within increasingly complex spiritual, organisational, financial, technological, legal and social environments. Effective leadership therefore requires theological maturity, strategic insight, research competence, ethical judgement and a sophisticated understanding of institutional governance and administration.

Students investigate advanced theories and practices in church management, organisational leadership, governance, policy, institutional development, financial stewardship, risk management, human resource leadership and organisational change. The programme also examines how Christian identity, mission and ethics should inform institutional structures, administrative systems and executive decision-making.

Doctoral seminars develop the ability to analyse complex organisational problems, evaluate institutional performance, formulate evidence-based policy and design sustainable strategies for ministry development. Students explore contemporary issues affecting churches and Christian organisations, including regulatory compliance, digital transformation, leadership succession, safeguarding, accountability, organisational culture and the responsible management of people and resources.

Advanced research training equips students to design and conduct rigorous original studies using appropriate qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method and theological research approaches. Candidates develop competence in scholarly writing, research ethics, data analysis, theory construction and the communication of research to academic and professional audiences.

The programme culminates in a 60-credit doctoral thesis that makes an original contribution to knowledge and practice in church management and administration. The thesis may address church governance, denominational leadership, organisational development, financial administration, institutional policy, ministry strategy, leadership systems or another approved area within the discipline.

Graduates are prepared for senior denominational and institutional leadership, university teaching, advanced research, governance consultancy, policy development and executive administration. They are also equipped to contribute new knowledge, models and practices that strengthen the effectiveness, integrity and sustainability of Christian institutions.
