About This Program
Program Description
The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry provides comprehensive biblical, theological and practical preparation for students called to pastoral ministry, congregational leadership and service within Christian organisations.
The programme recognises that effective ministry requires more than theological knowledge alone. Students must also develop spiritual maturity, communication ability, pastoral wisdom, ethical judgement, administrative competence and the practical capacity to lead people and ministry programmes. The curriculum therefore combines rigorous academic study with personal formation and supervised ministry experience.
Students study biblical interpretation, Christian doctrine, Old Testament theology, Church history, systematic theology, preaching, pastoral care, pastoral counselling, worship, discipleship, evangelism, missiology and Christian apologetics. Supporting courses in academic writing, critical thinking, contemporary society, church finance and intercultural relations strengthen their ability to serve responsibly within complex and diverse ministry environments.
Advanced Christian ministry courses develop further competence in pastoral leadership, church administration, ministry programme development, discipleship strategy and conflict management. Students learn to prepare and deliver biblically grounded sermons, provide appropriate pastoral care, lead worship and congregational activities, supervise ministry teams and manage the organisational life of a church.
Two supervised field education placements provide opportunities to apply classroom learning in authentic church or ministry settings. These placements enable students to develop practical competence under experienced supervision while reflecting critically on their ministerial practice.
The programme culminates in a 20-credit degree thesis through which students undertake sustained research into a significant question in Christian ministry, pastoral leadership, preaching, congregational development, discipleship or church administration. Graduates are prepared for pastoral and ministry leadership roles or progression to relevant master’s degree programmes.
