About This Program
Program Description
The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry provides advanced academic, spiritual and professional formation for pastors, ministers and Christian leaders serving in complex congregational, organisational and community settings.
The programme recognises that contemporary ministry requires theological depth, pastoral wisdom, organisational competence and the ability to respond thoughtfully to changing social, cultural and ecclesial conditions. Students engage critically with practical theology while strengthening their capacity to preach, teach, lead, mentor and provide responsible pastoral care.
Advanced study in homiletics enables students to interpret Scripture carefully and communicate its message with theological integrity, cultural awareness and pastoral relevance. Courses in pastoral counselling, spiritual care and crisis ministry develop the knowledge and judgement required to support individuals, families and congregations while maintaining appropriate ethical and professional boundaries.
The curriculum also addresses congregational leadership, ministry strategy, team development, conflict transformation, worship, discipleship and organisational change. Students learn to evaluate ministry contexts, formulate sustainable strategies, develop other leaders and guide churches through periods of growth, transition and challenge.
Research and reflective practice are central to the programme. Students develop competence in qualitative, quantitative and theological research methods and learn to connect academic inquiry with the realities of ministry practice. The programme culminates in a 30-credit master’s thesis through which each student conducts an independent and methodologically rigorous investigation into a significant issue in Christian ministry or practical theology.
Graduates are prepared for senior pastoral leadership, ministry consultancy, Christian education, ministerial mentoring, organisational leadership and research. The programme also provides a strong foundation for doctoral study in Christian ministry, practical theology, pastoral studies or a related discipline.
