About This Program
Program Description
The Master of Arts in Christian Education and Ethics provides advanced academic and professional preparation for educators and leaders seeking to integrate educational excellence with Christian moral formation.
The programme is founded on the conviction that education should develop intellectual competence, ethical judgement, spiritual maturity and responsible citizenship. Students therefore examine education as both an academic discipline and a formative practice that shapes knowledge, character, values and behaviour.
Advanced studies in curriculum development and assessment equip students to design coherent programmes, establish measurable learning outcomes, select effective teaching strategies and evaluate learner achievement. Students examine curriculum theory, instructional design, programme evaluation and approaches to improving educational quality.
The Christian ethics component develops advanced competence in moral theology, ethical reasoning and applied decision-making. Students evaluate major ethical theories and examine their application to education, leadership, technology, family life, public policy, social justice and institutional practice.
Courses in character education and moral development enable students to explore how virtues, values, habits and ethical judgement are formed through teaching, institutional culture, mentoring and community life. Students consider how Christian educational institutions can pursue moral formation while encouraging intellectual enquiry and responsible engagement with diverse perspectives.
Human development, counselling and learner support studies prepare students to understand the cognitive, emotional, social, moral and spiritual needs of learners. Students examine inclusive education, safeguarding, pastoral support and the responsibilities of educators toward vulnerable individuals and communities.
Educational leadership courses develop competence in programme leadership, staff development, institutional culture and ethical governance. Students learn to lead educational initiatives, guide curriculum teams, manage change and promote accountability within Christian educational institutions.
The programme also examines Christianity in relation to contemporary society. Students analyse cultural, technological and social developments and consider their implications for Christian education, ethical formation and public engagement.
Advanced research training prepares students to conduct rigorous educational and ethical enquiry. The programme culminates in a 30-credit master’s thesis through which each student investigates an approved topic in Christian education, ethics, curriculum, character formation, educational leadership or a related discipline.
Graduates are prepared for curriculum leadership, ethics education, research, teacher development, educational consultancy, institutional leadership and doctoral study.

Entry Requirements
A relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution or an approved equivalent qualification
